Here at ISB, our team understands choosing and applying to a new school for your children can be a stressful process. You want to ensure that everything is in place for your child and that the school is the right fit for the entire family.
Our admissions process reflects the values of our school, where we handle your application with care, respect and with individual attention and consideration. We want the process to be simple, effective and easy to navigate.
To further support our Japanese families, we have outlined eight steps to guide you through the application and transition process.
These 8 steps are:

The next step we recommend you take before anything else is looking through the required documents.
While filling out the application, you’ll be asked to upload some documents and complete others online.
The best way to get the feel of a school campus is to explore it yourself. Here at ISB, we have immersive, highly personalized tours to help you get to know our school. This can be offered virtually, too.
During your visit, we will show you around our campus. You’ll see classes in progress, get a glimpse of the state-of-the-art facilities purposely built to cater to the varying needs of our students and you’ll also have the opportunity to learn about our curriculum, discover the variety of co-curricular activities that we offer our students, and experience our caring, inclusive community.
We can also answer specific questions pertaining to your family and your child’s interests.
Due to COVID-19, we have specific safety measures in place for on-campus tours. Our Admissions team will share these with you.
In the meantime, you can also take a look at the virtual tour available on our website.
At ISB, we have both Japanese and Korean Community Liaisons. For other nationalities, we have community representatives. The Community reps assist in connecting you to other families within our community and host social events to help new community members meet some new people and to be connected to their home culture.
The goal of our Japanese liaison is to ensure that your child feels safe and comfortable at ISB and enable them to access the resources they need to be successful. The liaison also provides an avenue of communication and support to provide clarity and help your family understand ISB’s culture, processes, and expectations.
We understand helping your child nurture and embrace their native language is important to you - it’s important to us too!
Reach out to our Native Language Team to see what we have to offer to your child.
At ISB, we offer Native Language programs both during and after the school day.
Our after-school programs are held once or twice a week for an hour to 80 minutes. These classes will help your children feel both culturally and linguistically at home.
You’ve done your research, you’ve completed your application, now is the time to connect to your community rep.
Our Community Representatives are available to support you in your transition to ISB, and to offer you more information. These individuals are parent volunteers who act as ambassadors to their respective communities.
They are grouped by:
Your Rep will welcome you into our community, answer your questions, introduce you to new people, and offer you support.
Adjusting to a new school community can be difficult for both you and your children. To help make this transition easier, we highly recommend you contact your community rep.
Once your application has been submitted, and you’ve received your offer of admittance, it’s important to shift your attention to the adjustment in your family’s life. Changing schools can stir up a lot of emotions in your children. They will be excited about this new adventure, but also nervous about what’s ahead.
At ISB, we have substantial resources for students, and families, to support this transition ahead.
